This is a privately owned, operated and funded weather station.
The station began collecting data in 2003 and started publishing weather data in 2005.
Daily from all over North America and World Wide, visitors enjoy viewing the Elko Nevada Weather Home Den.
The current monitoring equipment consist of a Davis Vantage Pro2, a heated rain gauge and anemometer.
All of the cameras are POE color cameras. They are connected and powered via CAT5 cable & a 24 port switch.
The cameras are on three sides of the building, each facing a different direction. The cameras are adjusted for a
wide angle shot so that you can view the entire almost 180 degrees of the valley from the South to the North.
This will hopefully allow viewers to see storms coming from both directions.
The computer system is a Cybperpower PC, with an AMD FX-6300 Six-core CPU running at 3.50GHz, a 2TB drive with dual
partitions for data redundancy, 16GB of installed RAM, a NVIDIA GTX-950 video card with 2GB of RAM, all on a Asus
P7P55D Pro motherboard. Operating software consists of Windows 10 64-bit, Weather Display software and
with Battery back up for all equipment in the station. There is also a 22kw generator that runs the home if power
stays out for more than 30 seconds. The station is fully automated and data updates every minute 24 hours a day.
This station is out in the remote hills and the data is going on line via a Starlink high speed satellite link.
