This is a privately owned, operated and funded weather station. The station began collecting data in 2003 and started publishing the tables and graphs as of 2005.  People from all over the United States and as far away from Europe and the Asian continents view this site on a daily basis. The current monitoring equipment consist of a Peetbros 2000 Ultimeter, a heated rain gauge and anemometer. The first camera is a World EyeCam WEC-480 Color Infrared Day/Night Camera is mounted on top of a 35 foot utility pole, and is aimed towards the Northwest. This camera has a 3.6mm lens for a broader view of the area. The second camera is also a World EyeCam WEC-480, but it has a 6.0mm lens and is aimed towards Elko Mountain. This will hopefully allow viewers to see storms coming from both directions. The computer system is a Cybperpower Configurator, with a Intel I5-661 3.33GHz CPU, two Seagate 500GB SATA3 Hard Drives for data redundancy, a Radeon HD5570 1GB Video Card, 4GB of RAM, all on a Asus P7P55D Pro motherboard. Operating software consists of Windows XP Pro, Weather Display software and with Battery back up for all equipment in the station. The station is fully automated and data updates every 5 minutes 24 hours a day.  This station is out in the remote hills and the data is going on line via a high speed satellite internet link (Wildblue.com).
